Why does my reverb sound cheap?

Likely causes
- Reverb is too loud compared with the dry signal
- Decay time does not match the tempo or arrangement
- Pre-delay is not separating the source from the space
- Bright or muddy reverb tone exposes the effect
Check first
- Turn the reverb down before changing plugins
- Shorten decay and check whether the source becomes clearer
- Adjust pre-delay so the dry signal speaks first
- EQ the reverb return in context
